The week begins in spectacular style with Venus, the planet of love and affection moving into the sign of Capricorn on Christmas Day. He joins with the Sun but also the recently arrived Saturn in the early part of the week and this collective is going to make us much more aware of the serious side of relationships, personal responsibilities and obligations.

If you're focused on your love life at the moment, any old-fashioned gestures will probably go down extremely well. The course Venus is also about money, and in this location is asking us all to be a little bit more conservative in our approach to resources, so even if we do hit the sales immediately after Christmas, the chances are we going to be looking for real value for money, but also high quality.

However with Mercury now gaining ground, after its recent retrograde, we'd hope, on the face of it, that communications would improve, but this does continue to tangle with Neptune, the planet of dreams, and this in itself can create some confusion. So if we are communicating about anything remotely sensitive, adopting a degree of delicacy, and diplomacy will certainly help.

As the week draws to a close however and the year too, Mars moves alongside Jupiter in the sign of Scorpio, this is going to create a real sense of excitement.
